The Gannett Glacier Fire Crew values personnel that show they are self motivated and strong communicators throughout the hiring process. We are interested in individuals who not only have prior experience in wildland firefighting but also have additional life skills and passions. Mechanical, medical, administrative, etc. With the large pool of applicants, those who put extra effort into this process will stand out from the rest. We seek individuals who desire to progress as wildland firefighters and contribute to the progression of the Gannett Glacier Fire Crew Program. Gannett Glacier is a Type 2IA crew, although our standards are no less competitive than any other Type 1 crew in the nation.

Open positions are posted on the Workplace Alaska website in late December and remain open until mid February. The positions are listed as Wildland Fire & Resource Technician 1, 2, and 3.

The Gannett Glacier Fire Crew is located in Palmer, Alaska, which is located approximately 35 miles north of Anchorage. There is no housing provided for our crew members.
